Ever wonder what policies global food manufacturers use to guide their businesses? Oxfam is watching and reporting.
In February 2013, Oxfam launched the Behind the Brands campaign to challenge the social and environmental policies and practices of 10 of the world’s biggest food and beverage companies, the “Big 10:” Associated British Foods (ABF), Coca-Cola, Danone, General Mills, Kellogg, Mars, Mondelez, Nestlé, PepsiCo and Unilever. The campaign is also used to magnify the voices of key stakeholders such as farmers, communities, consumers and investors calling on the Big 10 to take action.
The specific policies tracked by Oxfam are in seven key areas: land, women, farmers, workers, climate, transparency and water.
