Doing Good....With Taste!
|
What is The Tasty Companion?
The Tasty Companion is your resource to help you do “most good and least harm”* as you mind your wellness, care for our planet, respect animal rights and contribute to the well-being of others and your communities. Our goal is to provide information and tools to help you enhance the good that you do by helping you make conscious and educated decisions about what and how you eat, act, buy and think and how you involve yourself in the communities where you live. What makes The Tasty Companion different from all the other “do good, go green” websites? We recognize that doing“most good and least harm” is a progression – a journey. Through our own experience we have seen that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to make immediate and radical changes; even if we could, these changes probably would not be sustainable. Great, you're going to tell me to stop using deodorant and lipstick, eat only organic food, use leaves instead of toilet paper and write letters to my Congressmen... ...and don’t forget that juice cleanse while you’re installing the worm composter under your kitchen sink, mixing up some baking soda shampoo and hand-feeding that orphaned harp seal living in your tub. Just kidding! The Tasty Companion is committed to a balanced approach to moving towards “most good and least harm:” we will give you ideas that are tasteful to and respectful of your senses and the realities of your lifestyle while at the same time helping you progress one little step at a time. Only then will you be able to make lasting and impactful transformations. We will never make suggestions that would have you going from 0 to 60 immediately, nor will we dictate the route to follow. Our information and tools are designed to let you go at your own cruising speed and on your own course, and then gradually amp it up, step by step. We are excited to have you join us on this journey. Ready, set…..let’s go! *Of course, many thanks and credit to Zoe Weil for inspiring this approach to doing good. If you are not familiar with her or her work, we strongly recommend you start your journey by checking out her website, the resources at the Institute for Humane Education and by reading her book: |
